• Education: to supervise the activities relating to the nursery schools, primary, secondary, and higher as well as the elimination of illiteracy for adult.
• Youth and professional training: to coordinate professional trainings of the young people.
• Sport: to coordinate the sportitives activities, to manage the infrastructures and them équipementd of sport.
• Culture: to identify, protect and organize activities of commemoration on the siteset historic buildings and memorials. Its specific mission consists in ensuring education for all, to take care of the promotion of the family, the reinforcement of the capacities of the young people, the promotion of the culture Rwandan and of the Sport in order to éradiquer ignorance and poverty.

Some of the major challenges facing the Education sector in Huye District:

• Weak access to education
• Not very powerful education system
• Resourcefulness in teaching pre-school age children not developed
• Resourcefulness in teaching post primary age children not developed
• Low enrollment for girls at all levels of education
• Precarious school hygiene
• High number of illiterates
• Sporting and cultural carriculum is limited

Given the challenges mentioned above, identification of priorities on the basis of situational analysis of the district and taking into account the priorities identified by the sectors as well as their potentialities and constraints, the Unit Education, Youth, Sport and Culture adopted the priorities below:
